3. Beach or Lake Outing
Unlike their feline counterparts, dogs aren’t notorious for a pathological aversion to H2O. Some breeds—including Labrador Retrievers and Portuguese Water Dogs—are especially keen on an occasional dip, which makes a waterside outing a fun dog-inclusive daytrip for the family.
If you live on the coast, an afternoon at the beach will grant your pup the thrills of a splash in the ocean, a romp in the sand, and an obligatory game of Frisbee. Just make sure to find a dog-friendly beach ahead of time. For the landlocked among us, a voyage to the nearest lake can offer its own bounties. A slow-paced kayak or canoe ride will suit the best behaved of dogs, and a barbecue lunch isn’t likely to incite any barking objections.
