Heart-shaped dog treats

This Valentine’s Day, show the love by making your dog some heart-shaped homemade dog biscuits. They are easy to make and your dog is sure to love them.

This recipe also uses ingredients that help support a healthy heart, including flaxseed oil, which gives the treats a nice little omega-3 boost in the form of alpha-linolenic acid, bananas, which are rich in potassium, and fiber, which protects your dog’s heart against strokes, lowers blood pressure and encourages a healthy weight.

Ingredients for heart-shaped dog treats

  • 100 grams whole wheat flour
  • 100 grams oat flour
  • 3 tsp beetroot powder
  • 1 ripe banana
  • ¼ cup flaxseed oil

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Mash the banana in a bowl and whisk the flaxseed oil into the banana.

Add flours and knead the dough.

All ingredients together

Add beetroot powder and work it into the dough. This will take a couple of minutes

Roll out the dough approximately 3-5mm thick.

Cut out heart-shape treats

Place hearts on baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 25 minutes.
