The shelves of pet stores are filled with all sorts of fancy treats for your dog. But you can easily make a variety of small bites that are just as tasty for your pup at home. We teamed up with Lisa Hennessy of Your Pet Chef, to develop this exclusive snack recipe.

“This simple, grain and gluten free recipe uses fresh vegetables available during the summer months, perhaps from your own garden,” Hennessy says. “We use chicken as the protein, but you can substitute another if you’d like.”

  • Food processor
  • Slicing knife
  • Peeler
  • 9”x 13” baking pan
  • Cookie sheet
  • 2” circle cookie cutter (or other shape)

Ingredients in food processor

  • 1 medium zucchini, (about 1 cup) peeled, sliced into 1” pieces
  • 1 cup fresh green beans, washed, sliced into 1” pieces
  • 4 tsp. flax seed
  • 1 egg
  • 1/8 tsp. ginger powder
  • 1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breast, sliced into 1” pieces

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine all of the ingredients in your food processor and puree until smooth.

Mixture spread ready for baking

Spread the mixture onto the greased baking pan. Bake for about 60 minutes.

Allow to cool. Take your cookie cutter and cut out shapes, placing them bottom side up on your greased cookie sheet.
