Misunderstanding Hold Times
It takes time for puppies to develop bladder control, and asking them to hold it for longer than they’re developmentally capable of is unfair.
You can estimate your pup’s hold time by converting her age in months into hours, which means that a 3-month old puppy can probably hold it for about three hours maximum. However, the rule doesn’t apply when the puppy is playing hard. Depending on the age, an active puppy might have to go out as frequently as every 20 minutes. On the flip side, a sleeping three-month old puppy might be able to hold it for a slightly longer period than three hours. No matter your pup’s age, frequent potty trips are always a good idea.
