7 Alexandria Activities to Do with Your Dog
A trip to our nation’s capital is not complete without a visit to Alexandria, Virginia. About 20 minutes down the Potomac River sits this quaint city that’s packed with history.
Leah Spellman, communications manager for Visit Alexandria, says the city feels like a totally different world.
“Old Town is a nationally designated historic district with preserved 18th and early 19th century architecture and red brick sidewalks,” she says, adding that for its historic look, it feels very cosmopolitan with more than 200 independent restaurants and boutiques.
It’s also a wonderful destination for any person, couple, or family traveling with a dog.
“Alexandria is home to about 159,000 people and 40,000 dogs,” Spellman says. “We have 18 public off-leash dog parks, and we were named one of the most dog-friendly cities in the U.S. by Animal Planet.”
