An Empty Water Bottle
Most dogs can’t resist the crinkle of an empty plastic bottle, but bottles themselves typically can’t stand up to powerful canine jaws for very long. If you want to make the crinkle last longer, create a tough “bottle sleeve” made out of a pair of old jeans.
Select either a water bottle or a soda bottle based on the size of your dog, then slide it inside the leg of the old jeans. Cut the pant leg, leaving at least six to eight inches of excess denim at either end of the bottle, then tie off the excess fabric on either end so that the bottle is trapped between the knots at the top and bottom of the fabric. The tough denim will keep the bottle in one piece, and when it’s finally flattened you can untie one end and slip a new bottle in.
As with any new toy, supervise your dog with homemade goodies until you’re sure that he won’t destroy or ingest it.
