Help Find a Forever Home as Much as You Want
Worried about finding a forever home for your foster? Many rescue organizations find homes for their animals, however, foster parents have a wealth of ways to spread the word about an adorable temporary lodger, from social media to “live marketing,” i.e., walks around the block. Both Winkler and Thompson say that the more creative and diligent you are about spreading the word, the quicker your foster will find his or her family.
Winkler, who fosters cats, suggests lots of photos.
“Make sure the photos show the cat doing stuff, not just their pretty faces,” she says. “For example, cuddling with a person, child or other pet, sleeping in a funny position or in a funny location, or food on their faces.”
Thompson has had success walking her fosters around town wearing a bright yellow “Adopt Me” vest. She considers her walks a great way to socialize the pups and it enhances their chances of finding their new forever families.
