Old English Sheepdog
Floppy hair, a square build and great strength are what the Old English Sheepdog (OES) is best known for. An intelligent and agile breed, one shouldn’t be fooled by their clownish look. These smart, gentle giants can weigh between 60 and 100 pounds. Known to be sweet, mellow dogs that are dedicated to their family (after all, it’s who Nanny in “Peter Pan” is based on) the OES responds well to training. While your OES requires regular exercise, be careful when outdoors as the instinct to herd remains a strong one they will try to herd anything, including cars, bikes and toddlers. Always supervise your OES as he may not understand his own power.
